With four games on tap Tuesday there was one that clearly stood above the rest as Patroon Conference leader Maple Hill hosted third place Greenville. Earlier in the year these two teams engaged in a barn burner with the contest finishing in an 8-8 draw. Two of the other matches showcased upper level teams (ICC and Chatham) against lower tier teams (Cairo and Taconic) and the final match up saw upstart Hudson against winless Catskill.
Greenville v. Maple Hill
After Spartans Alex Van Auken and Maple Hill's Meeghan Arno combined for 11 of their teams combined 16 goals in the first game, howver in the second contest neither one of the players scored a goal, but for the Wildcats that did not matter as they claimed a 5-0 victory. The win keeps Maple Hill alone in first place in the league.
The Wildcats scored three goals in the first half and added two more in the second. Ashley Cross scored three goals for MH while Sierra Legge netted two. Arno, Cheryl Bruen, Alyxe Perry and Cross each had an assist. Anna Racz made 3 stops in goal for MH while Abigail McQuillen and Bonnie Harvey combined for 4 saves for Greenville.
Maple Hill is off until Saturday when they play host to Catskill while Greenville has another major match up on Friday when they travel to Chatham.
Cairo Durham v. Ichabod Crane
The Riders hosted Cairo on Tuesday and came away with an easy victory after scoring five goals in the first half and three in the second compared to the Mustangs lone second half goal. ICC's 8-1 victory keeps them alone in second place behind Maple Hill in the Patroon Conference. Up next for ICC is a trip to Hudson on Thursday while Cairo heads to Catskill.
Alex Armstrong scored 2 goals and picked up an assist for the Riders while Morgan Van Alstyne scored 2 goals of her own. Both Cassidy Lester and Jessica Mink finished with a goal and an assist while Rebecca Daggett and Julianna Sacco each netted a goal. Shana Barry tallied 3 assists and Mariela Jacome added one. Cairo's lone goal came from Nicole Zacchio.
In goal Zoe Leary made 2 stops for ICC and Alicia Mink made 1. Cairo's goalie Sam Lorenz made 12 stops.
Chatham v. Taconic Hills
The Panthers made the trip to Craryville and netted a goal in the first half before adding three more in the second en route to a 4-0 win over Taconic Hills. The win keeps Chatham in third place as they get ready to host fourth place Greenville on Thursday while the Titans head to Coxsackie Athens.
Regina Behn, Danielle Carrizales, Alyssa Keeler and Abby Wheeler each scored for Chatham with Caroline Connor and Cailey Nieto each picking up an assist. Brittany Lossow made 3 stops in goal for the Panthers while Janine Hamm came through with 27 stops for the Titans in the loss.
Catskill v. Hudson
The Bluehawks hosted Catskill and kept them winless thanks to a 3-0 victory. Hudson scored one goal in the first half from Catherine Sundheim and added two more in the second half, one from Sundheim and one from Hailey Hollenbeck.
Catskill's keeper Meghan Baxter had enough strong performance for her team despite the loss as she made nearly 30 saves.
Hudson host's ICC in a tough match on Thursday while the Cats will host Cairo as they search for their first win of the season.
