Boys Soccer: Monday

With the Patroon Conference boy's soccer schedule coming to a close this week every game is important not just for the final league standings but also to build up your confindence and resume as Sectionals are just around the corner.

Now with all of that said let's take a look at the three games that occurred Monday night....

Maple Hill v. Cairo Durham

In a battle for a share of second place the Wildcats who fell to Cairo 2-1 earlier this year played without a number of upper classmen who have been suspended from the team but still overcame the Mustangs 1-0 on Monday.

The game's lone goal came in the first half when Steven Sepkowski, the fantastic sophomore, scored on a penalty kick that beat Mustang's keeper Cory Gransbury.

The win propels the Wildcats to 11-3 in the league with two games remaining while the Mustangs fell to 12-3 with just one game left. Maple Hill travels to Chatham on Wednesday, the Panthers still have a shot at second place as well, while the 'Stangs head to Hudson on Friday for their final contest of the season.

Chatham v. Catskill

The Panthers picked up a 4-1 victory and remained in fourth place in the league at 10-3-1 with two games left. Chatham scored a single goal in the first half before outscoring the Cats 3-1 in the second half for the win.

Todd Van Alstyne, Josh Kohrs, Willie McEachern and Austin Patzwahl each scored for Chatham with Ryan Behrens picking up 2 assists and Evan Young and Tyler Mashaw adding assists. Matel Anasta scored the Cats lone goal with Ricky Meyers making 12 stops in goal. Steven Oleynek made 7 saves for the win.

Up next for Chatham is a big showdown Wednesday against Maple Hill in Chatham while Catskill hosts first place ICC as well on Wednesday.

The Titans were the first team this season to score on the Riders, Friday night ICC made sure the Titans would not score anymore against them as they dominated 6-0 under the lights in Valatie. The win keeps the Riders alone in first place as they get ready to head to Catskill on Wednesday. Taconic Hills returns to action when they head to Hudson on Wednesday.
