Keyes breaking Records as Chatham rolls and other football results

Here is a look at how our local teams faired in this weekends football action.

Chatham at Watervliet

A year removed from having their season end at the hands of eventual Class C champions Watervliet the Panthers got a bit of revenge with a big 56-14 victory. After scoring 7 touchdown's last week Chatham junior running back Josh Keyes rushed for 402 yards on 21 carries and scored 8 times. His 402 yards is the fifth highest single game total in Section II history.

Running behind a fantastic offensive line Keyes scored the game's lone first quarter TD before adding four more rushing scores in the second half as Chatham went up 35-0 at the half. Keyes added two more scores in the third before busting loose for a 65 yarder in the fourth and final quarter.

Ryan Coon also racked up over 100 yards on the ground as the Panthers ate up over 600 yards on the ground. The Panthers defense gave up a single score in the fourth quarter as Watervliet's other TD came on a kickoff return. Chatham's defense also recovered three fumbles on the day.

Chatham now 6-0 overall and in the Class C South Division have locked up the top seed for the sectional playoffs. Next Friday Chatham will host Ichabod Crane in non league action for their final regular season game of the year.

Taconic Hills v. Coxsackie Athens

The Titans traveled to Coxsackie on Saturday and ruined the Indians homecoming with a 36-14 victory. The victory evened the Titans record at 3-3 but it looks as though the Titans will miss out on the Class C playoffs no matter what their result is next week when they face off with Voorheesville.

After falling behind 8-0 the Titans responded with a quarterback keeper as Nick Warren scampered 35 yards for a TD to pull within two. Late in the second quarter the Titans struck again when Nolan Boice rumbled 30 yards for a touchdown as the TH went up 12-8 heading into halftime.

The Titans kept up their offensive outburst scoring two more rushing touchdown's in the third quarter and another in the fourth. The Indians struck for a late score but it was too little too late.

Ichabod Crane v. Fonda

The winless Riders couldn't come close to matching the Braves on Saturday as they fell 54-0 on the road. The Riders allowed 33 first quarter points before Fonda put it in cruise control, scoring seven points in each of the final three quarters. The Riders were held to less than 50 yards of total offense.

ICC will finish up their season next Friday as they travel to undefeated Chatham in a non league contest.

Ravena v. Hudson

The Bluehawks put an end to their two game losing streak with a 28-0 shutout victory Friday night over Ravena. Hudson improves to 4-2 with a big Reinfurt Division clash at Albany Academy next Friday. The winner of that game will take the third seed from the division, the loser will be the fourth heading into Class B Sectional play.

Mike Black scored on a short run to open the scoring in the first quarter. In the second Larell Roberts added another score and the Bluehawks converted on the two point play for a 14-0 lead. Right before the half Nevin Sheldon took an interception 40 yards for another score. The Bluehawks added one more touchdown in the fourth on a short Brandon Mabb rush.
