I'm probably going to check out the Ichabod Crane-Red Hook girl's soccer scrimmage today. I don't know much about Red Hook but ICC should be interesting to see. They lose big time players every year and have a ton of young talent waiting in the wings, this year should be no different.
Losing Kylie Watt, Jess Van Alstyne and Olivia Armstrong will be huge. Finding and cultivating skill players is easy enough, finding players with such natural goal scoring instincts as Watt and Van Alstyne is not as easy. This team will have to work a lot harder for their goals this year than they have in a long time.
I'll be keeping an eye on Alex Armstrong and Morgan Van Alstyne to see if they can replace some of what the team is losing in their older sisters. Both were solid last year, now they have to do it while being the focal point of the other team's defensive strategies. Lacey Powers has the talent and now a year of experience at sweeper, can she follow in a long line of excellent defensive Riders like Lauren Williams and Mary Donohue?
